Centre for Studies in Health Care Services (CESS)

 

The Center for Studies in Health Services Management was created in July 2008 aiming to foster research and production of knowledge in the area of health services management.

In recent years, the health sector has been facing a number of challenges, mainly in terms of the quality of services offered, cost reduction and productivity growth.

Therefore, health service managers increasingly seek models and concepts that help them to optimize results.

However, especially in Brazil, there is still a limited numbers of research and structured knowledge on health service management. Thus, the CESS aims to fill this gap by developing research about the most current and challenging topics of business management in this sector.

 

 


 

Research topics:

 

The CESS is divided into four convergent topics of research:

 

1. Trends in Health Management: Innovation in Health Services; Analysis of the efficiency of the sector; Environmental sustainability; Disease Management.

2. Management of the Donation Process and Transplantation of Organs and Tissues: Health professionals attitude regarding to the donation and organ transplantation; Measurement of process efficiency; Analysis of the donation process and organ transplantation.

3. Consumption of medicines: Adherence of patients to medical treatment and drug prescription; doctor-patient relationship in the internet.

4. Capacity of Innovation and Servitization for Medical and Hospital Equipment and Supplies Market: Innovation with focus on the user; Smart Technologies and servitization for the medical and hospital equipment and supplies market; creation of value for patients and market differentiation.
